Before renovation, access to Memorial Church’s sanctuary, to an upstairs receptions room, and to Appleton Chapel was difficult at best. It was necessary to bring the church into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act while preserving the historic integrity of the church.
New interior ramps, an elevator, and bathroom renovations were designed to be visually unobtrusive. Construction was completed in two phases, both during academic years with minimal interruption to the church’s activities.
